Hotel Expectations Vs The Disappointing Reality Upon Arrival

We have all been victims of false advertising at one point or another. But nothing beats the disappointment of planning a vacation and eagerly waiting for it, only to get there and have it look nothing like you imagined.

These people got to experience that firsthand.

How Does Anyone Make A Bathrobe Look Cute?

Bathrobes are a lot of things: they're cozy, they're warm, they're roomy, but they're not flattering. They're usually way too oversized to give any sort of shape and hide everything but the face. The modeling in the left picture is therefore very impressive. The difference in bathrooms is less impressive.

Kudos to the person who took the photograph on left, making the pool look like it goes for miles into the horizon when it barely has space for one person and looks like it was just left in the parking lot.

This poor family had three kids who were so excited to go swimming. They even planned to stay in for the whole day just to enjoy the pool. Little did they know the pool looked like it had never been cleaned. So the next morning, they took the first ferry out instead.

This family found out the hard way that the beautiful resort and spa they had booked in Zhangjiajie was actually still under construction. Apparently, the site used artists' renderings for what the resort may look like sometime in the very distant future.

Vegas, the city of lights and dreams. You can't think of Vegas without your own set of expectations and hopes, and I guarantee none of them includes an industrial view from your hotel room.

A young man rushed to make a hotel booking in Barcelona. He booked a room with a supposed "view," only to discover that the view was 100% fake and that it was just a painting plastered on the window.

Technically, the hotel ad didn't lie... It just didn't give away the whole truth. It still looks the same as the picture, except it left out that the hotel background may not be particularly scenic.

The whole point of staying at a hotel is to escape the noise and the headaches that come with the everyday life of being home. Imagine wanting nothing but some rest and relaxation, and being welcomed with construction instead. On the whole front of the hotel.

The pancake machine at that hotel may have had a bit of a heating element issue that morning. Maybe if they just add lots of maple syrup and butter, they won't even be able to notice the difference anymore.

Apparently, this hotel cost over $200 and was booked mid-summer. Yet the pool remains closed and the reason is unclear. As a lot of people book their hotels based on the amenities they promise, the price should reflect it when they can't meet those promises.

This is a really great trick. The length of the curtains gives the impression that the window goes from one end of the room to the other. That's until you open them. Well, at least there actually still is a window somewhere in there.

Unless you're feeding these to a toddler, you'd need at least 10 of them to actually feel full, and even then, toddlers eat a lot. Maybe the hotel is not aware that they're able to control the size of pancake the machine produces.
